Patricia A. Courtney
WESTFIELD – Patricia A. Courtney, 84, of this city, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Westfield on August 29, 1926 to Marcus and Chrystel (George) Lawson. She attended local schools in Westfield and graduated from Westfield High School in 1944. She graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1947 as an RN.
She worked in all fields of nursing throughout her career. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Westfield.
She was the widow of Richard B. Courtney who died in 2004. She leaves her son, David Henry Johnson and his wife Robyn of Southwick; her daughters, Sally Leigh Gellock and her husband Joseph and Susan Chrystel Hampton and her husband Scott of Westfield. She also leaves her father, Marcus I. Lawson and her brother, Thomas and his wife Carol of Westfield; her sister, Chrystel of Rockford, Ill.; her grandchildren, Heidi, Melissa, Jamie, James, Jennifer and Courtney; and her great-grandchildren, Haleigh, Nicole and Kameryn. She also leaves an aunt, Sylvia Barber; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Glynn and his team, especially Teri, Diane, Maria and Sue from the Noble Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services for their kind and compassionate care.
At her request a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

James B. Holmes, Jr.
HANSON, Ky. – James Brabston Holmes, Jr. of the Western Kentucky Veterans Center, Hanson, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center of natural causes.
A native of Westfield, Mass., he was born October 21, 1932, the son of the late James Brabston Holmes, Sr. and Mary Hennessey Holmes. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Westfield, Mass.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired as a hearing clerk for the Social Security Administration in Lexington.
Services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Saint Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Father John M. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. The Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, is in charge of arrangements.

Stanley F. Tenero
NORTHAMPTON – Stanley F. “Toby” Tenero, 86, of 202 Jackson St., passed away at home on Tuesday morning, August 31, 2010 .
He was born in Westfield on May 8, 1924 the son of the late John and Helen (Zajechowska) Tenero. He was raised in Westfield, graduating from Westfield Trade School, the former Colonial School of Tool Design, Springfield and Westfield State College. He entered the U.S. Army during World War II, serving with the 165th Combat Engineers Battalion in Europe as a First Sergeant. He served in several battles including Northern France, Central Europe and the Rhinelands. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, the Victory Medal, the American Theatre Ribbon and the Good conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged and returned home in 1946. He played semi-pro baseball in Westfield with Club 25 in the late 40’s. He also bowled and played with several professional leagues. In his later years he bowled candlepins with several different teams at Canal Lanes in Southampton and also at the former Hatfield Bowl. He once rolled a 100 string without benefit of a mark at Hatfield. His last bowling league was with the Northampton Seniors League. He loved to golf and was the 5-time champion at Williamsburg Country Club, now Beaverbrook in the 60’s and 70’s.
He worked as a tool design engineer for many years before going to work at Westfield State College where he taught for 23 years before retiring in 1981. He was a life member of the Michael F. Curtin VFW Post 8006, the National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees, a member of the Retired Education Assoc. of Mass. and the Retired Sate & County Municipal Employees Assoc. He was a devoted communicant of the former St. John Cantius Church, Northampton and a longtime volunteer with the Bingo Committee.
He was predeceased by his wife, Stella (Sczuczko) Tenero in 1980 and by a sister, Helen DuBois in 1984. He leaves his brothers, Henry Tenerowicz of Southwick, Edward Tenero of Westfield and John Tenero of Victoria B.C. Canada; a sister, Jean Murphy of Westfield; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. from the Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton, followed by a Mass at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Hatfield. Calling hours will be held Friday, September 3, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

H. Barbara Cowles
SOUTHWICK – H. Barbara (Corcoran) Cowles, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Polly and Jim Carlin of East Otis. surrounded by the love of her ever-present family.
She was born in Cambridge on February 2, 1920, the daughter of Michael and Helen (Goode) Corcoran.
She leaves her two beloved brothers, Mike Corcoran and his wife Sandy of Duxbury and Jack Corcoran and his wife Yumiko of Mulkiteo, Wash.
Growing up in the Boston/Brighton area and Nahant, she moved to Westfield with her husband, Richard Cowles in 1940. Together they began raising their family on Sterling Street in Westfield and moved to Southwick in 1950. They were married for 59 years, when Dick passed away in 1999.
She was active in the Southwick School System in the 1950’s and 1960’s, and was a founding member of the Rams Booster Club in the 1960’s. She was also the assistant librarian at the Southwick Public Library for several years. He greatest accomplishment was being a loving mother.
She leaves five children to cherish her memory, Darby Hench and her husband, Les of Colorado, Dick Cowles, Jr. and his wife, Lynne of Southwick, Jonathan Cowles of Huntington, Polly Carlin of East Otis and Michael Cowles of Feeding Hills; her caring and loving son-in-law, Jim Carlin; and two devoted and loved daughters-in-law, Julie Muransky Cowles and Christine Roulston Cowles; nine grandchildren, Liesl McArthur (Robb), Eric Hench (Kathy), Jr. Golen (Christy), Jake Golen, Nathan Cowles (Blanca), Ethan Cowles (Lauren), Travis Cowles, Erin Cowles and Ryan Cowles. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren. She was an inspiration to everyone and was loved by so many people, whose lives were enriched because she truly cared.

EAST LONGMEADOW – Dorothy C. (Dunleavy) Bowker, 89, of this town and formerly of Westfield, died Monday, August 23, 2010.
She was born in Springfield on February 11, 1921, daughter of the late James and Gertrude (Maloney) Dunleavy.
She was employed as a clerk for the Massachusetts Department of Social Services office in Westfield, retiring in 1983, prior to that, she was a clerk at GilBarco in West Springfield for many years.
She was the widow of James E. Bowker, Jr. who died on May 27, 1986. She leaves several nieces and nephews.

Anna M. Konopka
SOUTHWICK – Anna M. (Zenisky) Konopka, 99, of this town, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 in Baystate Medical Center.
She was born in Suffield, Conn. on May 3, 1911 to Joseph and Stella (Obuchowski) Konopka.
She was employed for Hathaway and Stein Tobacco Company as a supervisor for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and canning.
She was the widow of Adam J. Konopka who died in 1969. She leaves a niece, Patricia Fox of Manchester, Conn.; great-nephews, David, Jason and Wayne Griggs; a daughter, Lori Wood and her husband Steven of Monson; and grandchildren, Ashleigh, Dawna, Melissa and Joshua Wood.
The funeral will be held Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 12:00 noon from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St., Westfield, with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield. A calling hour will precede the service from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Paul L. Fairley
WESTFIELD – Paul L. Fairley, 86, of this city, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Hermon, ME, he was the son of Leon and Avis (Morrison) Fairley. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was an accomplished truck driver.
He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union and began his career working for the family business, L.L. Fairley Inc, of Portland ME. When he settled in Western Massachusetts in 1955 he was employed by Arthur A. Fogarty Co., Grocery Express, Associated Transport and Warehouse Transport of Springfield. He lived in West Springfield and Westfield where he raised a family of eight children. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Westfield. He was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan, enjoyed woodworking and was a devoted family man. Upon his retirement in 1976, he moved to Ocala, Fla. where he enjoyed his retirement years. In 2003 he returned to Westfield where he resided in Hamden Village where he lead and participated in recreational activities.
He leaves his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary A. (Pacitti) Fairley; five sons, Stephen Fairley of Huntersville, N.C. and his wife Isabelle, Richard Fairley of Enfield, Conn. and his wife Kathleen, Paul Fairley, Jr. of Hauppauge, N.Y. and his wife Jamie, Michael Fairley of New York, N.Y. and his wife Yolanda and Leon Fairley of Alpharetta, Ga. and his wife Julie. His son Anthony Fairley predeceased him in 2008 and he leaves Anthony’s wife Cynthia of Westfield. He also leaves two daughters, Diane (Fairley) Dobranski of Bolton, Conn. and her husband Arthur and Lisa (Fairley) Parent of Chicopee, and her husband Christopher. He leaves 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

WESTFIELD – Virginia Ruth (Carr) Moore, 89, of this city, died Monday, August 30, 2010 in a local nursing home.
She was born in Agawam on April 14, 1921 daughter of the late Arthur E. and Ruth A. (Talmadge) Carr. She grew up in Agawam and graduated from Agawam High School in 1940 and moved to Westfield in 1952.
She worked for Whites Quaint Shop and Waltham Grinding Wheel, both in Westfield and Packaging Service, Agawam.
She was the widow of Sidney F. Moore who died in 1979. She leaves a son, Robert S. Moore of Mills, Wyo.; three daughters, Linda A. Wojcik of Chicopee, Penelope G. Hill and her husband James of Worcester, and Barbara E. Coleman of Westfield. She also leaves a sister, Elvia H. Bettinger of Southwick; a son-in-law, Fernando Pereira of Westfield; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur, Robert and George Carr, by a sister, Cynthia Peet and by a daughter, Bonnie J. Pereira.

WESTFIELD – Rita A. (Spanyer)Boccio, 52, of th is city, died suddenly, Sunday August 29, 2010 at home.
She was born in Louisville, Ky. on February 5, 1958 to the late Charles and Hildalea (Connor) Spanyer. She grew up and attended local schools in Louisville and was a 1976 graduate of Durrett High School. She had lived in Westfield since 1999.
She was a Provider Relations Supervisor for Consolidated Health Plans in Springfield for the past nine years. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid New England Patriots.
She leaves her loving husband of 35 years, Nicholas Boccio; a son, Nicholas R. Boccio of Shirley; a granddaughter, Nicole Couture and her mother Candace of Westford; three brothers, Bill Spanyer of Louisville, Ky., David Spanyer of Louisville, Ky. and Michael Spanyer of Martinsburg, Ind. She also leaves her mother-in-law, Anna Boccio of Acton; her sisters-in-law, Rhonda and Kevin Lyons of Framingham, Donna and Lou Gigilio of Northboro; her nieces and nephew, Lindsey Digilio, Alexandra Lyons, Christina Lyons, Donald and Carmen Corder and Danny Digilio. She also leaves her best friend Andrea Ferranti of Southampton and her pet cats Alvin, Teddy and Cali.

Frederick S. “Joe” Kareta, III
WESTFIELD – Frederick, S. “Joe” Kareta, III, 22, of Buck Pond Rd., died Saturday, August 28 in South Hadley.
Born in Holyoke, September 14, 1987, he was the cherished son of Frederick, Jr. and Kathryn (Wise) Kareta of Westfield A graduate of Westfield High, he participated in numerous baseball and basketball leagues and teams throughout his life. Additionally he was an avid snowboarder and loved riding his dirt bike with friends. He had just graduated from Westfield State College with a BS in Criminal Justice and had passed the Police Exam. He was also pursuing and had passed the first certification for becoming an EMT and was working to become a full-time firefighter. A valued employee to family at White Wing in South Hadley, he had worked there for the past six years, most recently in the capacity of assistant manager.
Besides his parents, he will be deeply missed by his sister, Kerry of Boston; his aunt Connie Barre and uncle Roger Barre of Belleville, Ill., and aunt, Karen Kareta of South Hadley, along with his uncles, Edward Wise of Hatfield, Ralph Wise and his wife Meredith of South Hadley, and Dale Wise of Lowell. Additionally he leaves his aunt, Maureen Ryan Wise of Northampton; his great uncle, Frank Strzempko of South Hadley; and many other great aunts and uncles, and cousins, including Walter Pietras, Marilyn Sicotte, Kelly West, Jessica Ysursa, Becky Gibson, Ben Wise, Jamie Wise, and Caiti Wise.

He was born in Springfield, son of the late George J. “Ike” Borelli, Sr. and Julia Borelli. He leaves his wife, Gracie Lou (Byerley) Borelli; a daughter, Christie M. Borelli of Quaker Hill, Conn.; a son, George Joseph “Joey” Borelli III of West Springfield; a granddaughter, Lilyana Jo Borelli; five sisters, Josephine Borelli of Monson, Tina Sagon of Somers, Conn., Maryann Crevier of Southampton, Rose Borelli of Carmel, Calif. and Laura Borelli of Agawam; and a brother, Robert Borelli of Westfield. He was predeceased by a sister, Bernadette Borelli.

HOLYOKE Bernard J. “Joe” Redden, 87, of this city, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at Wingate at West Springfield.
He was born in Chester, PA on November 10, 1922 to John and Marie (Peterson) Redden.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Marie J. (McAuliffe) Redden who died on September 28, 1998 and by his brothers, Edward, Harry, James and John Redden. He leaves a son, Larry Redden and his wife Gloria of Easthampton, their sons, Matt and his partner, Kellie of Huntington and Eric and his wife, Wanda of Florence and their children, Samantha, Austin and Zachary; his daughter, Carole Grenier and her husband, Ron and their sons, Larry of South Hadley and Joseph of Holyoke and his daughter, Laura Beaulieu and her husband, Eric and their children, Jack and Grace of Westfield; his daughter, Mary Jane Pietras and her husband, Michael and their children, Michael, Susan, Amanda, Sierra and also Ellen Motroni of McEwen, Tenn. Paul E. Delskey, Jr.
SOUTHWICK – Paul E. Delskey, Jr., 68, of this town, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His family was by his side.
He was born in St. Albans, Vt., the son of the late Paul Delskey and Margaret (Moriarty) Delskey on July 30, 1942. A long-time Agawam resident, he graduated Agawam High School in 1960. He was an Army veteran of the Viet Nam era.
He was employed at F.W. Sickles Co., in Chicopee, Magnetics Inc. of Butler, Penn., and later by Electronic Coils Inc. of Springfield, which he served as President. Paul and wife Paula founded, and are the proprietors of, Bancroft Bridals in Agawam, operated by Paul’s daughter Tara. Active in community service, he coached in the Sacred Heart Athletic Association, was a member of A.C.O., the Agawam Citizens Organization, and was instrumental in establishing the SPAN Center in Agawam, today known as the Agawam Counseling Center. He devoted many years to the Agawam Jaycees, chairing the first Miss Agawam pageant, serving as Treasurer for the Mass. Jaycees State Convention, was on the committee of the Ambulance Drive, a project recognized by the International Jaycees, as “Best Local Project In The World”, in 1977. His efforts in the Jaycees resulted in his being honored as a Jaycees International Senator, the highest award attainable in the organization. He was also active in CRC, the Citizens Restoring Congamond, and recently the AIDS Foundation of Western Mass. awarded him their first “Friends of the Foundation” award.He enjoyed sports for many years. Once an avid golfer, he played softball and basketball on Jaycee teams. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, and had visited several NASCAR tracks. He loved Red Sox and Patriots games, kayaking, sailing, and powerboating. He especially enjoyed family gatherings at the lake.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Paula Bracci Delskey; his loving children, Paul III (Teddy) and wife Kelli, of Somers, Conn., Dana and wife Jennifer, of Windsor, Conn., Tara Delskey-Eagan and husband Ken, of Feeding Hills, Scott Bracci of Agawam, and Anthony Bracci and wife Linda, of Ballwin, Mo. He adored his 10 grandchildren, Ashlie, Zachary, Cole, Rachel, Johnathan, Declan, Katie, Kristie, Peyton, and Rhiannon.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St., Westfield, on Thursday, September, 2, 2010, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 3, 2010. A luncheon will follow, at St. Anne’s Country Club, Shoemaker Lane, Agawam.

Richard A. Knight, Sr.
WESTFIELD – Richard Allen Knight, Sr., was born March 10, 1917 in Springfield and raised in Chicopee Falls.
He graduated from Chicopee High School in 1935 and the Williston Academy (now Williston Northampton School) in Easthampton, in the Class of 1936. He graduated from the Williams College School of Banking in 1961.
He worked for the Hampden National Bank, founded in Westfield, in 1825 and later merged with the Third National Bank. He retired as Vice President in 1979. He married the former Alyce Martin in 1942. He served as a warrant officer in the 52nd Engineer Combat Battalion of the U.S. Army and was deployed in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In 1947 he moved with his wife to Westfield, where he lived for nearly 50 years and raised a family.
He performed extensive community service for numerous Westfield civic and charitable institutions. For 36 years he was treasurer of Sarah Gillett Services for the elderly. He also served as treasurer at the Episcopal Church of the Atonement, vice president of the Westfield Athenaeum’s board of directors, director of the Westfield YMCA and commissioner of the Westfield Gas and Electric Company. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club for 25 years, the Blandford Country Club for 20 years and the Westfield Duplicate Bridge Club. In 1995 he moved with his wife to Southwick.
He was the father of three children, Linda A. Knight of Waltham, and Port Clyde, ME, Richard A. Knight, Jr., of Eastham, and Christopher A. Knight of Los Angeles, Calif. and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He was also the grandfather of three, Sarah Knight Howell (Mrs. Judson Howell) of Alexandria, Va., and Christine Knight Monahan (Mrs. Kevin Monahan) of Avon, Conn., and Brian Knight of Eastham. Two brothers, John. Jr. and Paul, predeceased him.

AGAWAM – Shirley L. (Marek) Payeur, 79, of th is town, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at home.

Payeur of Agawam; a sister, Nancy DiBiasio of Providence, R.I.; her best friend who was like a sister to her, Kal Perazzola of Agawam; two grandsons; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter and a great-grandson; cousins; and several nephew and nieces.

Mary C. Layman
SOUTHAMPTON – Mary C. (Morin) Layman, 89, of Old County Road, died Thursday, August 26, 2010 after a brief illness.
She was born in Northampton on January 11, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Armand and Cathryn (Carter) Morin. She was raised and educated in Northampton.
In May of 1942, she married Major Phillip James Layman and they spent eighteen years traveling and living on many military bases during his career, finally settling in Southampton in 1960. They celebrated 58 years of marriage together until Phillips death on January 19, 2010.
She was a devoted and faithful communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, Westfield and served on numerous committees, including the Springfield Diocese – Representative to Deanery, Past President of the Diocesan Religious Education Board, served n the special study group for the new Catechism, Director of Religious Education program for the parish and was a Lay Minister. She also was a substitute teacher for the City of Westfield, she loved oil painting.
She leaves three sons, Thomas Layman of Southampton, James Layman of Sandpoint, Idaho and Cary Layman and his wife, Sally of Southampton; a daughter, Gail Judd and her husband, Robert of Chesterfield; a brother, Donald Morin of Westhampton; a sister, Teresa Sutherland and her husband, Al of Westfield; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Morin and by a sister, Rita Byrom.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Road, Westfield. At her request there are no calling hours. The Graham Funeral Home, 18 Adams St., Easthampton, is in charge of arrangements.

Mariana Gooch Mosser
KENNEBUNK, ME – Mariana Gooch Mosser, 89, of this town, died Friday, July 2, 2010 at Emeritus at Cherry Hill, Danvers, Mass.
She was born to the late Mabel Low Gooch Smith and the late Albert Norwood Gooch of West Medford and Kennebunk, Maine. She was raised in West Medford with her two sisters, Madeleine and Nancy. She and Jake settled in Westfield, Mass. in 1952. During World War II she met Jacob “Jake” Mosser in Kennebunk.
In late 2007 Jake and Polly relocated to an assisted living home in Cambridge, MA to be closer to their children. Jake remained a devoted husband and caretaker to the end, and died in March, 2008 at the age of 93. She leaves her son, Jacob Mosser III of North Reading, Mass.; and her daughter, Molly (Mosser) Downer of Cambridge, Mass.
She will be buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in Kennebunk, ME in September at a small family gathering.
Madeleine D. Murphy
CHICOPEE – Madeleine D. (Paquin) Murphy, 88, of The Arbors in Chicopee, died Friday, August 27, 2010.
She was a daughter of the late Wilfrid and Florence (Denette) Paquin. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 62 years, George F. Murphy on February 21, 2004. She was also predeceased by her baby son, Joseph Murphy and by her brother and sister, Clarence “Nick” Paquin and Lorraine Paquin. She leaves seven children, George W. Murphy of Franklin, James F. Murphy of Holyoke, Edward T. Murphy of Douglasville, Ga., Robert D. Murphy and his wife, Clare of South Hadley, Stephen P. Murphy of Westfield, Timothy J. Murphy of Westfield and Ann Marie Novak of Granby; 27 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; her brothers, George Paquin of Holyoke and Armand Paquin of South Hadley; her sisters, Irene Cote of South Hadley, Mary LaCoste of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Jeanne Toth of Manchester, N.H.; and many nephews and nieces.

WEATHERFORD – Ellen “Maggie” O’Brien, 91 of this town, died Thursday, August 26, 2010 in a Weatherford nursing facility.
Maggie was born January 6, 1919 in Malone, N.Y. to William and Selina Degon Dumas. She married her husband of 50 years, James and together they moved their family to Southwick.
Following the passing of her husband, she moved to Texas where she spent the last six years near her daughters. She leaves her daughters, Julee Wilhoit of Bridgeport Texas and Maryellyn Hartington of Midwest City, Okla.; four grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick with burial in Southwick Cemetery. There will be a visiting hour one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

EASTHAMPTON – John J. Malikowski, 81, of this town, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
He was a son of the late Joseph and Victoria (Zajac) Malikowski. He previously resided in Westfield and Northampton.
He leaves four children, Laurie A. Roy of Westfield, Victoria L. Bremer of Hamilton, John Malikowski of Holyoke and Catherine M. Sheehan of Chicopee; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Edwin J. Malikowski, of Chicopee; a sister, Josephine Jagodowski of Chicopee; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Theodore Malikowski and Walter Malikowski and by two sisters, Stephanie Bardon and Michaelene Malikowski.

Ronald B. Bonci
WESTFIELD – Ronald “Ronnie” B. Bonci, 70, of this city, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 in Noble Hospital, Westfield.
Born May 28, 1940 to the late Bruno and Betty (Behrens) Bonci, he was raised in Blandford and was a resident of Westfield for most of his life attending local schools.
He was a 42 year employee of Kellogg Brush, Westfield and Easthampton before retiring. He was also a former employee of Valley Upholstery, Westfield. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Parish, Westfield, a member of Camp Jahn, Southampton and an avid New York Yankees baseball fan.
The family would like to send out a special thank you to Fr. Brian McGrath and Fr. James Longe of St. Mary’s for all their help, support and prayers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Nancy E. (Garczynski) Bonci. He was the proud father of his twin daughters, Mary E. Burke and her husband Neal and Debra A. Laquerre and her husband Paul, all of Westfield. He leaves his brother, David Bonci and his wife Cheryl of West Springfield; his sister, Darlene O’Connor and her husband Robert of West Springfield; his aunt, Gloria Bailleul of West Springfield; and godchild, Lisa Saviotti of Italy. He also leaves his five cherished granddaughters, Gillian and Carly Lequerre, Allysen, Grace and Reyse Burke. He will be sadly missed by all.

(Bernard) Racine; a son, Jason Pitoniak of Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter, Elizabeth Racine of Belchertown; his sisters and brother, Janet Fay of Bend, Ore., Donald Racine of Manassas Va., Maryann Patruno of Belchertown, Susan Racine of E. CHICOPEE – James E. Tracy, 81, of this city, died Friday, August 20, 2010 in Monson.
He was born in Westfield on January 31, 1929, son of the late William and Anna (Baker) Tracy. He attended local schools in Westfield and was a Korean War Naval Veteran and later served in the Merchant Marines.
He was employed as a boiler engineer for Face Mate in Chicopee, retiring in 2005. Prior to working for Face Mate, he was a boiler engineer at The Hartford in Hartford, Conn. for many years. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid fisherman.
He leaves his wife, Lois Campbell; eight sons, James Tracy Jr., Gerald and Gary Tracy, all of Westfield, Stephen, Victor and John Tracy of Alaska, Alvin Grass of Chicopee and Wes Kellogg of Westfield; four daughters, Michelle Tracy of Westfield, Brenda Kellogg-Chapdelaine of Monson, Nicole Hart of Florida and Annie Poole of Virginia. He also leaves 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Tracy of Pensacola, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Patricia Kellogg. He was predeceased by four brothers, William, Thomas, Edward and Raymond Tracy and by five sisters, Sally Foy, Helen Vermette, Donna Dawson, Phyllis Williams and Jean Besnet.

WESTFIELD – Matthew A. Cellilli, 32, of this city, died Sunday, August 22, 2010.
He was born in Springfield on May 5, 1978 and had been a lifelong resident of Westfield. He attended local schools and was a 1997 graduate of Westfield High School. He also attended Bryant College and Westfield State College.
He was an employee of Sodexo at Westfield State College for 16 years and was currently an administrative assistant. He was also employed by the United States Postal Service, Westfield as a rural route carrier. He loved music, art, hiking, animals and traveling.
He leaves his beloved parents Lawrence and Diane (Mosher) Cellilli of Westfield; his beloved brothers and best friends Gregory Cellilli and his wife Stefanie of Westfield, Darren Cellilli and his wife Lori of Westfield; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves the love of his life Farina Lees. He also leaves many many friends and will always be remembered for his wonderful smile and his willingness to put the concerns of others first. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

WESTFIELD – Elaine Marie (Dazelle) Sienkiewicz, 85, of city, died Sunday, August 22, 2010 in Noble Hospital.
She was born in Westfield on July 20, 1925, daughter of the late Frederick and Delia (Fouche) Dazelle. She lived in Huntington and Ellsworth, ME for many years before returning to Westfield.
She was the widow, fishing partner and companion of her late husband William E. Sienkiewicz who died on July 20th 2007. She loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, traveling, good music and dancing.
She leaves her cousin, Marlene Russell of Westfield; her cousins, Judy Ferris of Castle Rock, Colo. and Donna King of Westfield; and many relatives.

PALM HARBOR, Fla. – Carly Jane Liptak “The Pie”, 12, of this town, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 unexpectedly.
She was a bright, young, athletic girl who loved life to the fullest. She had a wonderful spirit, sense of humor, and a heart of gold. She had a deep love for softball, with aspiring dreams to compete professionally and form a Women’s Olympic Softball Team. She was actively involved in Oldsmar Little League Softball, with her father.
She is survived by her parents, Elisa and Kevin Liptak and her little sister Riley; her grandfather, Donald Liptak, Sr. of Westfield, Mass.; her uncles, Donald Liptak, Jr. of Westfield, Mass., William Liptak of Westfield, Mass. and Brian Liptak of Cape Cod, Mass.; and many cousins. She was grateful for her family, all her teammates and dear friends.
A celebration of her life was held on Saturday, August 21, 2010 in Florida.

Gibbs of East Granby, Conn.; three daughters, Andrea Parrott of Agawam, Paula Maak of Southampton, and Katie Ann LeMaire of Jacksonville, N.C.; a brother, Richard Beyer of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Elsie Hill of New York; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Paul R. Gibbs, Jr. in 2002 and by a sister, Phyllis Warren in 2010.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd., Westfield, followed by burial at 11:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.

SPRINGFIELD – Edward A. Pitts, 72, of this city, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center.
He leaves two sons, Edward A. Pitts, Jr. of Springfield and Joseph Pitts of South Windsor, Conn.; a brother, Thomas E. Pitts of Southwick; and his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar W. and Rose (Johnson) Pitts and by a sister, Virginia Rodeen.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Chestnut Street, Springfield, proceeding to Saint Michael Cemetery for burial. The New England Funeral & Cremation Center, LLC, 25 Mill St., Springfield, is in charge of arrangements.

SPRINGFIELD – Harold F. Waldron, Sr., 89, of this city, died Sunday, August 22, 2010.
He leaves his wife, Anna; and their seven children, Robert Nolan of Hanson, Harold F. Waldron, Jr., Clifford Waldron, and Greta Waldron, all of Springfield, Anna Rodriguez of Westfield, Timothy Waldron of Springfield and Stephen Waldron of Clinton Twp., Mich.; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a cousin, Geneveve Outlaw; and nieces, Judith Crichlow, Esther Pearson and Lorraine Summer.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Crematory Tribute Center, 1858 Allen St., Springfield. Burial will be private. A Public Memorial Talk will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1680 Wilbraham Rd., Springfield.
